Taking a look back at 2017

Well a slightly belated Merry Christmas to you all but looking forwards, may I wish you a very happy and successful 2018.

2017 has been a real pleasure for me although it has come from a number of changes in my coaching workplace.

At the end of 2016, my agreements with the Czech Golf Federation finally, after many years, came to a close - I had finished coaching players and helping develop coaches at the end of 2015 but continued to coach and travel with Klara Spilkova on the LET tour in 2016 when required. It was a pleasure to see her develop over my 10 years of helping her skills & career progress. This was great fun but for the 2017 season I just provided technical back-up via the internet as required (See my Klara Spilkova news article).

I also decided to severely limit my overseas coaching commitments - my duties with England Golf and the Czech GF had meant I'd been 'on the road' since 1987 - 30 years of seeing most of the world and some fantastic golf courses and events. Prior to 1987 I'd travelled as a Tour player too - no complaints whatsoever but airport experiences don't get any better!

Hawkstone Park, Shropshire is now my only base and is having a significant investment programme under new owner Mr Roger Hancox. The golf facilities have yet to upgraded but that should follow soon!

I've enjoyed establishing new coaching relationships and have particularly enjoyed moving back into junior coaching for the younger ages.

I continue to learn new aspects about the golf swing and human learning and find using launch monitor, Sam PuttLab, video software all contribute to more accurate and effective feedback for players.

I am proud to have been 2017 Captain of the PGA in England Midlands region which has taken me to some interesting places and to meeting some great people. I am a member of the PGA Midlands Regional Committee, the Shropshire & Herefordshire PGA Committee and the County Development Committee working with England Golf .... never a dull moment!!

My 2018 is targeted to working with the Committees I am a member of, delivering quality coaching, helping current and new players, getting back into playing more golf myself and generally finding a better balance towards a quality lifestyle now that I have reached my 'mellower years' .... you know where I am and I will always do my best to help and advise so please don't hesitate to contact me.

Sincere good wishes for 2018. Keith
